The Africa and Middle East Women's Committee demands more visibility
The Africa and Middle East Women's Regional Committee met on Sunday afternoon, December 1, 2013 in Bangkok in preparation for the meeting of BWI’s International Women's Committee.

Chaired by Edna Opoku Boakye, President of the International Committee and the Regional Women's Committee of the BWI, the meeting reviewed the situation of women in the Construction and Building sector in Africa and the Middle East and focused on two key areas:

  • Putting in place adequate resources for the recruitment and training of women in BWI sectors

  • Increasing the visibility of activities that promote women's participation in trade union activities

    In conclusion the Africa and the Middle East Women’s Committee reaffirmed the resolution adopted at its last meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, that will be submitted to the 3rd Congress of the BWI.
